BIOGRAPHY :

He was the tenth child in a family of eleven. He studied in the seminary of Larressore. There he had Gratien Adema as a school friend. They were to be friends for the rest of their lives. He left the seminary in 1849 to enter the french army, where he reached the grade of captain. He married Françoise Eyheraburu from Urrugne in 1874. They will have one son, Léon-Joseph, born in 1877. His bertsus were prized several times at the Floral Games. In 1881 he definitively left the army to retire into his native village. He was appointed judge of peace in the area of Espelette from 1882 to 1891, when he died at the age of 63, on a 31st of december. He wrote about 20 poems as well as a short novel : Piarres Adame, published in Pau in 1888.
