BIOGRAPHY : 

Married Margarita Gandolla on 29/III/1881. They had 4 children. At the age of 18 he went to America. But all along his life he kept a deep attachment for the bask language. He lived in  Argentina, in Chili and in Uruguay.  He produced a lot of texts. His bertsus and his poems were published on the newspaper Euskal Erria of Montevideo. Pierre Charritton collected and published them in a book called Jose Mendiague, haren bizia eta haren kantuak, en 1992. (José Mendiague, his life and his texts).
