BIOGRAPHY :

Born in Bidarray, he first studied at the seminary of Larressore then at the higher seminary of Nay in Béarn where he achieved higher level studies. Homesickness lead him to start writing and later on to support actively the bask language and culture. In 1912 he was appointed curate in St Pierre d'Irube and worked together with Jean Hiriart-Urruty in the newspaper Euskalduna. In 1921 a lot of  priests willing to act on the bask side gathered to launch the newspaper Gure Herria. He took in charge the major part of the work in the newspaper during these first years  of launching.
Concerning litterature, he mainly excelled in poetry, where he prooved his mastership of the art in the book published in 1914 Boz-oihu-deiadar-nigar (voice-shout-alarm-cry) .
But he also worked in other fields : Alegiak, fables written in verse, published in 1926, Heiatik zerura (from below to heaven) in 1935, Haur-elhe haurrentzat (children words for children) in 1944, Aintzina (ahead) in 1944, Otxalde in 1949.
He was appointed at the Bask Language Academy in 1952.
